VICTORY!!

In today's constitutional convention, Massachusetts lawmakers stood up and were counted: 151 against putting an anti-gay marriage amendment on the ballot for popular vote in 2008, vs. 45 for the measure. They needed 50 votes to move the issue onto the ballot.

FINALLY. Not only can MY family have a little peace of mind, but so can others who now no longer have to worry about whether they can find someone and get married "before their rights are taken away."

I spent the day at the State House, per usual. Got to shake hands with our new governor Deval Patrick (pictured above, next to MassEquality Campaign Director Marc Solomon), which was a nice little icing on an otherwise phenomenal cake.
